Understanding Our Audience: Better Communication with Faculty

The information literacy training offered by most academic libraries is essential to student success. Yet many faculty members don't want to spend time on Info Lit because they want to focus on their own subject matter or do not see the benefit of Info Lit instruction. Hence, we often struggle to communicate the value the library provides. Teagan Eastman and Jared Oates conducted an ethnographic study to better understand the needs and expectations of faculty. The study results have important implications for how we tell people what we do and how we deliver our services.
